Plot
The film set during the era of the Han Dynasty. Huo An (Chan), a hun, serves as a commander of the Protection Squad of the Western Regions of the Han Dynasty. They are tasked by the emperor to maintain stability between the warring 36 nations in theSilk Road region. Huo An and his subordinates are framed for smuggling gold and are sent to the Wild Geese Gate, a frontier town of the Han Dynasty and undergo forced labor. In the west, meanwhile, a Roman general named Lucius (Cusack) flees with his legion to the east. He smuggles Publius (Waite), heir of the Roman consul for the Parthian Empire to save him from death and a ploy by his older brother, Tiberius (Brody), who schemes to takeover the position as heir to the Consul seat for himself. Lucius arrives at outskirt of the Wild Geese Gate, with plans to assault the frontier town with his legion. As Huo battles Lucius, a sandstorm approaches the battle and Huo allows the Roman Legion refuge shelter from the approaching sandstorm. Lucius tells Huo the plight he is in. The commanding officer of the Wild Geese Gate receives a royal edict to complete the restoration work of the fortress within 15 days which the commanding officer deem to be impossible, but with the assistance of the Roman legion, they are able to do so within the time frame. During the time, all who were employed in the restoration begin to co-exist and acknowledge that they can work together to achieve the peace that the Huo's mentor, the previous commanding officer of Wild Geese Gate, previously envisione.
